An amazing awesome group of women from church arranged a surf group. Yesterday we all assembled at the beach with our kids and our wetsuits and took turns hitting the (friendly little) waves.
It was my first time surfing, and I L-O-V-E-D it. Kathy, an awesome, fun, experienced surfer, taught me the beginner's ropes, and I had a blast, triumphantly "getting up" (and staying up!) on my very last wave. Beautiful!

Casey also had a good time--clearly--ingesting sand. Ah, nothing beats the beach.

These photos were taken by my good friend Lani, a professional photographer. You can check her out here. She's done some beautiful things, and comes up with such fun ways to use her photography skills--including but definitely not limited to documenting our awesome day at the beach!

Impressive!!! I tried surfing once and could not get my balance for the life of me. There's definitely nothing better than a day spent in the surf and sand, though. Glad to see you're becoming a true Californian. ;)
Thanks! Yeah, surfing is one of the things I've felt I COULDN'T leave San Diego without doing. I'm really psyched that this group of friends is going to make it possible (and fun, and less embarrassing) to do it regularly!
That's awesome! The relief society here has an average age of about 70 so our big activity was visiting a flea market and looking at antiques. I sat out on that one. Although, you wouldn't catch me surfing either
1. me+ wet suit= people running away in horror
2. SHARKS! I know the likeliness is so small but I'm terrified to go into the ocean past my ankles.
HA ha! You just cracked me up like FOUR TIMES. Love you!
Casey is looking SO grown up! Her hair is just adorable!
DUDE. You are AWESOME! I'm so impressed, and so glad that you finally did this!! :)
Hello miss amy! Do you remember me??? How is life? It has been seriously forever!
Your sisters are free to disagree, of course, but in those cute pictures Casey looks A LOT like Meg when she was two.
Congrats on surfing! I couldn't even do a skateboard.
Yeah... my own previous failure to thrive on a skateboard did make me nervous about surfing. I think the water motivates me more than asphalt or something--it's gone better for me than skateboarding. :) Woohoo!
Man, you ROCK! I'm totally impressed! Surfing is hard. You go, girl! Those pics make me miss the beach more than ever. I'm still hoping to make a trip down there late July/early August, but it all depends on whether or not I can financially swing it. We'll see...
Anyway, Casey looks so cute in those pics. She reminds me of Margaret a little around the eyes.
Surf's up! Seriously, that is sooooo stinkin' cool!
